Le Croci – 2.4 MW

The Le Croci Agrivoltaic Plant, located in the municipality of Monzuno (Bologna), combines renewable energy production with agricultural continuity, turning over 3 hectares of farmland into a dual-purpose site. With a capacity of 2.37 MWp, the plant is equipped with 3,888 bifacial high-efficiency modules, designed to maximize sunlight capture and optimize land use.

Thanks to its innovative layout and south-facing tilt, the system will generate more than 3 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power thousands of households while preventing over 2,000 tons of CO₂ emissions every year. Over its 30-year lifetime, this represents a climate impact equivalent to planting tens of thousands of trees.

A key feature of the project is its agrivoltaic qualification: the land remains productive for agriculture, with cultivation activities continuing beneath and around the solar structures. This synergy between farming and energy ensures that the site contributes both to local food supply and to the green transition, with monitoring programs in place to track agricultural yields and ecological benefits

To further enhance resilience, the plant integrates a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with 8.25 MWh capacity, housed in a 40-foot container. This allows excess solar power to be stored during peak production hours and released when demand is higher, stabilizing the grid and maximizing efficiency. The Le Croci project stands as a model of circular, future-proof development where technology, agriculture, and sustainability converge.
