The Anzola Photovoltaic Plant is a 3.4 MW solar facility located in the municipality of Anzola dell’Emilia, near Bologna. The project repurposes a former landfill area previously used for construction debris from the high-speed railway works, transforming it into a source of clean and renewable energy. Positioned within an agricultural and industrial context, the site was carefully selected to combine environmental sustainability with efficient land use.
Anzola – 2.9 MW
With over 4,700 next-generation solar panels, the plant will generate around 5 GWh of renewable electricity each year—the equivalent of covering nearly half of Anzola dell’Emilia’s annual energy needs. This is not just an energy project: it is a concrete step toward Italy’s energy transition, reducing CO₂ emissions by more than 3,400 tons every year.
Sustainability has guided every design choice. Native trees and hedges have been planted to integrate the facility seamlessly into the landscape, while raised fencing ensures safe passage for local wildlife. A new 500-meter cycling and walking path has also been created, making the project an asset not only for the grid, but also for the community.
By turning a former landfill into a source of clean power, the Anzola Solar Park embodies the principles of circular land use and long-term sustainability. It demonstrates how technology, environment, and community can come together to create lasting value for the region.
